Our multi-channel braking systems are capable of stopping a full unbalanced load descending near the shaft bottom, from full speed of the winder at a deceleration rate of not less than 1,75m/sec2.
They are also capable of producing a static holding torque of not less than twice the minimum holding torque specified in Regulations 16.6.2 and 16.6.3 of SA Mine Health & Safety Act, Chapter 16.
Emergency braking is initiated when the safety contactors are tripped. In addition to de-energising duplicated energy trip valves, the proportional valve solenoids are also de-energised.
Brake system pressure can be under the control of two ESCORT valves on each of the system’s channels, to ensure a predetermined deceleration rate of the winder.
